Millbrook Man Accused Of Attempted Robbery After Domestic Dispute

The man had gone to New York City where he was contacted by authorities, but he wouldn't turn him, police said.

MILLBROOK, NY — A Dutchess County man was accused of attempted robbery after a report of a domestic dispute.

The New York State Police said Ruben A. Stella, 27, of Millbrook, was charged Thursday with third-degree attempted robbery, aggravated family offense and first-degree criminal contempt, all felonies.

Troopers responded Sept. 9 to a home on Route 44 in the town of Washington for a domestic dispute.

An investigation found that Stella tried to forcibly steal property from the victim while an order of protection was in place, police said.

Stella fled to New York City and was contacted by phone by the police, but he refused to turn himself in, according to authorities.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Town of Washington Court.

Stella was found in New York City with the help of the New York Police Department Thursday.

He was arraigned in the Town of Washington Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail, $30,000 bond or $120,000 partially secured bond.

Stella is next scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
