New SUEZ Initiative Focuses On Reducing Water Use in Orange County

The water company has hired a sustainability specialist to run it.

ORANGE COUNTY, NY — SUEZ has created a position of Conservation Communications Specialist to work on reducing water use in Orange and Rockland Counties. They've appointed Chelsea Wulff to be responsible for the company’s new initiative, SUEZconserve. Wulff, a corporate sustainability specialist, will work with community, business and environmental leaders to implement the program.

SUEZconserve, which launched this past June, aims to reduce water use through rebates on innovative indoor and outdoor products based on the EPA’s WaterSense and other qualifying standards. SUEZconserve is part of a collaboration with Orange and Rockland Utilities. O&R also offers rebates on energy-efficient products.

SUEZ will also offer free water efficiency assessments for commercial customers to help them identify savings opportunities.

“We’re excited to have Chelsea join our team,” said Chris Graziano, vice president of SUEZ operations in New York. “Her experience and enthusiasm will help us develop a successful conservation program. Customers will benefit by saving water and lowering their utility bills.”

Wulff joins SUEZ after holding multiple sustainability roles with global businesses. She most recently was a Sustainability Specialist who supported BASF’s sustainability team in North America. Prior to that, she supported the development and growth of sustainability programs at Becton Dickinson and Sodexo.

“SUEZ has brought together its brightest minds across the organization to reduce water use and conserve resources in Rockland and Orange counties,” said Wulff. “It is an honor to join the organization. I’m looking forward to engaging with residents to identify ways SUEZ and its customers can sustain water resources for future generations.”

In 2016, Wulff was selected by the Corporate Eco Forum to participate in the Sustainable Leadership Development Program where she spent a week in Cody, Wyoming. Along with other sustainability leaders, she explored the complicated relationships between wildlife, conservation, development and business. Wulff holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Tampa, where she graduated cum laude with honors distinction. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in sustainability science.
