NY State Police Investigator Dies from Illness Caused By Work at 9/11 Ground Zero
The Dutchess County resident was with the State Police for 26 years.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A New York State Police investigator died from an illness caused by his search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.
State Police Superintendent George P. Beach II announced Wednesday the death of Investigator Paul R. Stuewer, a Dutchess County resident.
Stuewer joined the State Police October 1, 1990, and serve with the law enforcement agency for 26 years.

Following the events of 9/11, he was assigned to New York City to aid in the search and recovery efforts.
Stuewer served as a Trooper in Troop K until he was was promoted to investigator in 2004 and then to the permanent rank of sergeant in 2005.

His most assignment was as investigator in Troop NYC for the New York City Drug Enforcement Task Force.
Stuewer is survived by his wife, their children and his parents.
Funeral arrangements have not been released.
