Orange County Saw 6 Opioid Overdoses In 2-Week Period

The overdoses are being investigated as if the were homicides.

NEWBURGH, NY — Six people died in Orange County over the last two weeks from opioid overdoses. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said none of the suspected overdoses were thought to be related.

Darcie Miller, Orange County’s head of social services and mental health, said her department is working to make sure people seeking help are assessed and that treatment starts as soon as possible, News 12 reported.

After the fifth death, Hoovler said the county was investigating the overdoses as if they were homicides, MidHudsonNews.com said.

One arrest was made for selling heroin authorities believe contributed to one of the deaths.
