Police Arrest Syracuse Woman Trying to Bring Drugs into Prison
Besides drug smuggling and possession, she was charged with child endangerment.

BEEKMAN, NY — Police arrested a Syracuse woman who they said tried to smuggle drugs into a prison.
State Police said Joy E. Isbell, 40, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies.
She also faces two misdemeanor charges: second-degree promoting prison contraband and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Troopers were dispatched Dec. 18 to Green Haven Correctional Facility in Beekman to assist the Department of Correction and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations with the arrest of someone suspected of unlawfully entering the prison with drugs.
An investigation found that Isbell had brought suboxone and synthetic marijuana which she intended to give to an inmate, police said.

The woman had traveled from Syracuse to Beekman with her 12-year-old son, for which she was charged with child endangerment.
Isbell was arraigned in the Town of Beekman Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
She is scheduled to return to court Jan. 12.
