Police Seeking Person Who Threw Dogs Out Of Car [PHOTOS]

Troopers attended to the injured dog and fed the smaller dog biscuits.

State police are asking for the public's help in finding the people responsible for throwing two dogs out of a moving vehicle in an upstate county Wednesday. Trooper were patrolling I-81 in the Whitney Point area of Cortland County around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday when they spotted a tractor trailer parked in the left lane of the interstate.

The truck driver was seen carrying one badly injured dog with another another smaller dog following behind him.

A state police K9 handler bandaged the injured dog to stop bleeding and put a splint on its leg while other troopers kept the dog warm in a blanket and in the truck driver's sweatshirt.

The truck driver told the troopers he saw a vehicle, which he believed to be an older model Dodge Durango, slow down, roll down the rear passenger window and throw the dogs out of it.

He said the vehicle was very dirty and had rust along the hatch near the bumper area.

The truck driver said he immediately stopped to get the dogs to safety.

Investigators said they hoped a dash cam on the tractor trailer may have captured some of the incident, but so far they have no other leads.

The suspect vehicle was traveling south on I-81 between the Marathon and Whitney Point exit around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
