Poughkeepsie Man Arrested After Firing Illegal Weapon: Police
Police said the weapon also had a high-capacity magazine.

LAGRANGE, NY — State Police arrested a Poughkeepsie man March 25 after a report of a disturbance.
Ian J. Irby, 21, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, and second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.
Police said they were sent to a Town of LaGrange home around 12:05 a.m. March 25 for a domestic dispute.

An investigation found that Irby allegedly discharged a bullet from his semi-automatic pistol into the air as he was driving away from the residence.
He was stopped by the Town of Poughkeepsie police and detained.

When the gun was recovered, police said Irby did not legally possess it in New York.
The weapon also had a high-capacity magazine, which led to the third-degree weapons possession charge.
Irby was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
He is scheduled to return to the Town of LaGrange Court at a later date and time.
Besides the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, the State Police were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
