Poughkeepsie Refugee Resettlement Agency Closes Doors

A spokesperson said the agency closed because the number of refugees allowed into the country was drastically reduced.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Poughkeepsie-based refugee resettlement agency the Church World Service Network shut its doors in November. The agency had aimed to help 80 refugees settle in the area during 2017.

Former acting director Roisin Ford said in a statement that the closing was mostly due to the current administration’s reduction in refugee admissions from 110,000 to 45,000 this year, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

The office was located in the Family Partnership Center.
