Search For Missing Swimmer In Hudson River Continues
The male swimmer who is missing is in his late 40s.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Police continued searching for a missing swimmer Wednesday morning, using sonar. The male swimmer who is missing is Paul Machettia, who is in his late 40s, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
Reportedly Machietta, who has not been officially identified, was with other swimmers and went missing when he tried to help someone who was struggling to stay afloat.
Poughkeepsie city police got a report of a swimmer in distress around noon Tuesday.

One person was rescued, and the search was called off for the day around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
