Street Reopened After Investigation Of Suspicious Package: UPDATE
Park Row in the Village of Chatham was closed for part of Monday due to a police investigation.

UPDATE — State police closed off a Chatham street Monday due to a suspicious package. Officials said it contained an unknown substance that was deemed nonhazardous.
They said there was no danger to the public, and Park Row was reopened to traffic and normal business.
State police said the investigation remains ongoing to determine if there was any criminal activity involved.

CHATHAM, NY — A street in the Village of Chatham has been closed Monday for a report of a suspicious and possibly hazardous situation. State police said they were called around 9:30 a.m. to assist Columbia County Emergency Services on Park Row in the village.
Police said agencies involved were exercising an overabundance of caution in the closure until further notice.

State police stressed there is no danger to Park Row residents or the surrounding community and any possible criminal activity will be investigated.

Agencies responding to the scene were New York State Hazmat Team, NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control, NYS Emergency Management, Columbia County Hazmat Team, Chatham Fire Department, Chatham Police, Chatham Mayor, Chatham Rescue Squad, Columbia County Fire Coordinator, Columbia County EMS Coordinator, Columbia County Department of Health and Columbia County Emergency Management.
