Suspicious Letter Found In Chatham Village Court

Authorities said there was no indication that the incident was a result of criminal behavior.

CHATHAM, NY — A suspicious letter found in the Village of Chatham Court was determined to be nonhazardous.

New York State Police said the letter was found Wednesday and an investigation was started.

The building was isolated, and no one reported any ill effects.

Columbia County Hazmat, the Chatham Fire Department, state police and state fire determined the letter was not hazardous and had been in the office prior to mail delivery.

Authorities said there was no indication that the incident was a result of criminal behavior, and the court returned to its normal business.
