Ulster Man Accused Of Abusing Dog
Police said the abuse was caught on in-home surveillance equipment.
RED HOOK, NY — An Ulster County man was arrested after being accused of abusing a dog. The Red Hook Police Department, in conjunction with the Dutchess County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said Wednesday it had arrested Dane Helmer, 35, of Saugerties.
On July 13, Red Hook police received a complaint from a village resident who reported her dog being abused, which was captured on in-home surveillance cameras.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of Helmer.

He was charged Aug. 23 with two counts of unjustifiable beating and injuring an animal, misdemeanors.
Helmer was processed and released on appearance tickets to return to the Town of Red Hook Court at a later date.
