Victims In Deadly U.S. 6 Head-On Crash ID'd By State Police

According to a NYSP preliminary investigation, a Dodge pickup crossed over the double yellow line and struck a Honda Civic.

WOODBURY, NY — The victims of a fatal head-on crash in Orange County have been identified by officials.

On Tuesday, at 5:12 p.m., the New York State Police were called to a serious vehicle crash on U.S. Route 6, in the town of Woodbury. The head-on collision between two vehicles resulted in one fatality and another driver seriously injuried.

According to a NYSP preliminary investigation, a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, driven by Noely Rafael Vargas, was traveling east on U.S. Route 6, when it crossed over the double yellow line and struck a westbound 2016 Honda Civic CRX head-on.

The Honda was being driven by Samantha Lezin, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Lezin was the only one in the vehicle at the time.

Traveling behind the Honda was a 2018 Jeep Wrangler driven by Kiley Genevieve Metcalf, with passenger Anthony A. Bolivar Sanchez, both of whom were uninjured.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, Vargas, suffered leg injuries and was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown by Kiryas Joel EMS.

The Woodbury Police Department, the Woodbury Fire Department, the West Point Fire Department, Woodbury EMS, and Mobile Life Support Services responded to the scene to assist.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing, according to state police.
