Macy's Fire Injures One At Flagship Midtown Store, FDNY Says

Firefighters have controlled a trash compactor fire, a department spokesman told Patch. At least one person suffered injuries.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A fire broke out in the trash compactor on a basement level of Macy's Herald Square store Tuesday morning, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.

Firefighters reported that the fire was under control by 10:45 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. At least one civilian suffered minor injuries during the fire response, the spokesman told Patch. A smoke condition was present on the second basement level of the building and smoke was been reported inside the elevators, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.
