Man Sought A Smoke Before Stabbing Victim In The Head In Midtown: NYPD

Police said a stranger approached the victim near a Times Square-area garage and asked to bum a cigarette, then stabbed him when he said no.

MANHATTAN, NY — Police said a man is recovering after being stabbed in the head with a screwdriver, by someone who had asked him for a cigarette outside a parking garage near Times Square.

The stabbing took place Tuesday evening around 7:18 p.m. in the area of 151 W. 43rd Street. According to New York City Police, a stranger came up and asked the victim for a cigarette.

The victim said no, and they began arguing before the perpetrator pulled a screwdriver out and stabbed him in the head, police told Patch.

Emergency responders brought the man to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. Police have not arrested the suspect.
