Midtown Board Wants To Hear About Your Sidewalks

In the wake of snowstorms that left some city streets impassable for pedestrians, a community board launched a survey seeking feedback.

Launched on Friday, the "state of the sidewalk" survey by Community Board 4 asks residents for feedback about sidewalks, curbs and crosswalks, with an eye toward making those spaces more walkable.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A Midtown community board is asking neighbors to weigh in about the conditions of the sidewalks near them, whether they are snowy, slushy or otherwise inaccessible.

Launched on Friday, the "state of the sidewalk" survey by Community Board 4 asks residents for feedback about sidewalks, curbs and crosswalks, with an eye toward making those spaces more walkable.

It comes in the wake of multiple snowstorms that have hit the city in recent weeks, prompting New Yorkers to renew their complaints about slush-filled sidewalks that render streets nearly impassable for pedestrians.

Among the questions: how often do you trip on sidewalks? How often are corner ramps in poor condition? Are bus stops blocked?

The board is seeking responses from residents around New York City, not only Community District 4. The deadline to complete the survey is March 1.
