Midtown Street to be Shut Down for the Weekend

Drivers will have to use an alternate route to cross West 28th Street in Midtown this weekend.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Drivers beware. A highly-trafficked stretch of Midtown will be off limits to cars starting Friday, Jan. 6 and lasting through the weekend until Sunday, Jan. 8.

Signage was spotted advising that West 28th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues will be closed, but did not say why. Drivers looking to travel crosstown should take West 26th or West 30th streets instead.

The street closure shouldn't have much of an effect on late-night drivers, as the road will actually be open from 1-7 a.m. But during the most-trafficked parts of the day, including the morning and evening rush hours, the road will be a no-go.
