Beach Advisories Posted After Monday's Heavy Rains
Suffolk County Department of Health Services says waters pouring into the Sound could cause dangerous bacteria blooms.

The county health department on Monday afternoon issued advisories for 60 county beaches, warning locals that runoff from the morning's heavy rains could cause bacteria levels to spike at local bathing spots.
The Suffolk County Department of Health Services is warning against swimming in many beaches along the Long Island Sound and the Great South Bay as a result.
Local beaches include Sound Beach West, Scotts Beach and Tides Beach in Sound Beach, Beech Road Beach, Broadway Beach, Terraces on the Sound and Friendship Drive Beach in Rocky Point, The Shoreham Shore Club Beach and the Shoreham Village Beach in Shoreham, and Miller Place Park Beach and Woodhull Landing Beach in Miller Place, which are all susceptible to heavy runoff following big storms like Monday's soaker.
