Crimes Nearby: Port Jeff Station Man Poses As Immigration Officer

Three Village

A man was confronted Saturday night by a trio of men who threw a screwdriver and a filled soda cup at him at approximately 11:55 p.m., according to a police report. Police said three unknown men approached the complainant near the intersection of Belle Meade Road and Technology Drive in East Setauket in a maroon-colored Camaro, threw the screwdriver and soda cup at him, and fled at a high rate of speed. The complainant said he saw them strike a tree at the intersection of Belle Meade Road and Upper Sheep Pasture Road before continuing to drive away. The man was not injured in the incident, which police classified as second-degree harassment.

Daniel Wexler, 27, of Setauket, was arrested June 14 at 3:27 a.m. and charged with first-offense DWI. Police said Wexler was swerving and failed to stop for a stop sign on Gnarled Hollow Road at Old Town Road in Setauket.

Matthew Weiner, 23, of Setauket, was arrested June 13 at his home in Setauket. Charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, Police said he was waving a machete. Police also charged him with criminal possession of a controlled substance for having prescription pills without a prescription.

Port Jefferson

Prosecutors unveiled additional, upgraded charges and accusations against David Bradley, the Port Jefferson Station man and putting a 19-year-old man in handcuffs.

At his arraignment in Riverhead criminal court on Wednesday, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said that Bradley had caught three other alleged victims in his spree of impersonations and fake arrests.

Riverhead

Desmond J. Bright, 31, of Flanders, was arrested June 7 at 9:10 a.m. in Riverside and charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, both misdemeanors, as well as being an unlicensed driver and littering, both violations. Police said Bright was pulled over for throwing garbage out the window while driving on Route 24 and misidentified himself to an officer.

Riverhead Town Police responded to a call on June 13 at 3:05 p.m. from a Doctors Path resident who said that her son had taken her car without her permission. Prior to the arrival of police at her home, officers observed the vehicle heading northbound on Doctors Path. Officers determined that Paul T. Booker, 33, was wanted by Riverhead Town Police on an outstanding warrant and arrested him; the defendant was also charged with operating the vehicle without a license.The car was returned to Booker's mother.

Adam Laskowski, 53, of East Marion, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child on June 19 at 12:44 p.m., after police noticed Laskowski walking a bicycle with a child in a child seat without a helmet on Main Street in Greenport, police said. An officer stopped Laskowski to interview him, smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage, and found Laskowski to be intoxicated, police said. Laskowski was arrested, transported to police headquarters in Peconic where he was processed and held for arraignment.

Following a call from another car driver, a Greenport man was arrested Thursday night by Southuold Police after they said he was driving under the influence of drugs on Route 25 in Mattituck. According to Southold Police, a motorist called police around 7:30 p.m. to report an erratic driver, heading westbound on the road while crossing over into the eastbound lane.
Southold Police responded and reported witnessing the driver, 48-year-old Kenneth T. Finne, cross over the double line. Police said he was found to be impaired by drugs.

Kevin Smith, 26, of Greenport, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on June 16 at 2:35 a.m. on Adams Street in Greenport. An officer on patrol noticed Smith’s hand in his pocket and when he asked Smith to take his hand out of is pocket, the officer found a small brown vail with a white powdery substance in it, police said. The officer checked the pocket and found Smith had poured the powder, which was tested later and found to be cocaine, into his pocket, police said. Smith was arrested, processed and released on cash bail with a later court date.
