Lacrosse: Rocky Point Native Follows Joe Spallina to Stony Brook
Sophomore Emily Mercier transfers from Adelphi to Stony Brook to once again play under Spallina, also from Rocky Point.

After leading Adelphi Women's Lacrosse to three consecutive NCAA Division II titles, Rocky Point's in June and on Tuesday it was announced that four players will follow.
Among those four is another Rocky Point native, sophomore Emily Mercier. A 2010 Rocky Point graduate, Mercier had seven goals and two assists as a freshman for the Panthers during the 2011 season.
"I have known Emily a long time, and I have witnessed her transform into a budding lacrosse star," Spallina said in a release. "Last year was a great transition year for her, and we are counting on her to be a tremendous player for us from day one. She knows my system and will hit the ground running here at Stony Brook."

Mercier earned All-County honors as an Eagle, leading the team to a county championship her senior season. She retains her full eligibility and will slip right in to the Seawolves roster for the 2012 season.
