Legislator Anker Congratulates Vanderbilt Museum Curator Stephanie Gress

Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker recently attended the Vanderbilt Museum Members Reception.

Centerport, NY- On Sunday, June 28th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the Vanderbilt Museum Members Reception, celebrating the museums 65th anniversary and honoring the Director of Curatorial Affairs and author of “Eagle’s Nest: The William K. Vanderbilt II Estate,” Stephanie Gress.

“If you haven’t visited Suffolk County’s Vanderbilt Museum, you’re missing out on a wonderful adventure into our county’s past”, said Legislator Sarah Anker. “The Vanderbilt Estate celebrates architectural design, science, astronomy, and natural history. Having been a former member of the Vanderbilt’s Museums board and struggling to keep the doors open to the public, I commend both Curator and Author Stephanie Gress and Museum Director Lance Reinheimer for their dedication in keeping our history alive for future generations to experience,” said Legislator Anker.

The museum, which first opened its doors on July 6, 1950, will soon be celebrating its 65th anniversary. More information on the history of the museum can be found in Gress’ book, or online here.
