Miller Place Football Takes Down Rival Rocky Point 32-0
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back thanks to quarterback Matt Hinchy's three touchdowns.
Miller Place quarterback Matt Hinchy threw for two touchdowns and ran for another en route to his team’s 32-0 victory over Rocky Point on Saturday afternoon.
The win moved Miller Place to 3-1, while Rocky Point fell to 0-4 on the year. Rocky Point head coach Anthony DiLorenzo said before the season that he was looking forward to his team’s matchup with Miller Place but was upset at his team’s effort on Saturday.
“When you talk about a rivalry – we have to hold up our end of the bargain,” he said. “I’m not sure it’s a real rivalry right now, we’ve never really beat them and we got our [butts] kicked today from the opening kickoff to when they took a knee.”

The Panthers scored early and often. Adin Greenfield scored on a five-yard touchdown run on Miller Place’s opening drive. Following a three-and-out on Rocky Point’s first drive Miller Place scored quickly again on a 35-yard pass from Hinchy to Greenfield.
“We definitely got off on the right foot,” Hinchy said. “Our defense held them on the first drive and after that the offensive line blocked well, Adin Greenfield had some nice runs and it just came together.”

The Panthers were up 25-0 at the half. Hinchy tacked on a one-yard touchdown run on the first drive of the third quarter to provide the final margin.
“We knew that we could handle them and that we would win by halftime,” he said. “In the locker room we were just saying to not let up on the gas pedal and keep going every single play.”
Hinchy finished 11/14 for 186 yards.
The Eagles were not able to move the ball consistently on offense. Quarterback Joe Kingston often found himself lacking time to make plays, with Panther’s defenders consistently in the backfield.
“Anytime we play Rocky Point it’s a game that is easy for us to get up for,” Miller Place head coach Ron Petrie said. “They always bring a tough game, physically we always know they’re going to come out and hit. There’s always going to be a little chatter between the two of them and that’s what makes it exciting.
"I think our execution was the difference today, I think we kind of dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and set that tone early and carried it through the rest of the game.”
Rocky Point’s biggest play of the game came in the fourth quarter when Kingston burst through the line on a keeper and looked like he was going to score. Instead he was caught from behind and fumbled the ball as well, turning it over to Miller Place.
The final score not withstanding, playing former childhood teammates and friends made this game a little more fun than the rest for Hinchy.
“It’s a rivalry,” he said. “It’s fun to play against each other because we started playing football together and they live five minutes away, it’s always a great game.”
