Miller Place Music Named Semi-Finalists
Miller Place High School Music Department Recognized by GRAMMY Foundation
The Miller Place High School music department was recently recognized as a GRAMMY Foundation Semi-Finalist for its outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year. As a semifinalist, the school is one of 119 schools nationwide in the running to receive a grant to support the music program. The school’s Symphonic Band, Orchestra and Select Chorus have recorded audition tapes for consideration during the next round.
The GRAMMY Foundation was established in 1988 to cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to American culture — from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the still unimagined musical breakthroughs of future generations of music professionals. The Foundation accomplishes this mission through programs and activities that engage the music industry and cultural community, including students, as well as the general public.
