Miller Place teams were recognized as New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete Teams for the 2010-11 fiscal year, and coachs and teams also earned Section XI Sportsmanship Awards.
Athletic Director Lisa Lally recognized the honorees by handing out certificates at Wednesdays Board of Education meeting, with some coaches in attendance to accept the awards. 19 varsity teams earned scholar athlete awards.
"What I feel best about is that I know our coaching staff is consistently making sure that kids are getting the job done in the classroom" Lally said. "There's a tremendous amount of pride taken when a team is a scholar athlete recipient."

Highlighting the sportsmanship awards was the boys varsity basketball team, voted by their peers for the Sportsmanship Award and voted by officials for Sportsmanship Award for Eastern Suffolk County.
