A Night for Tesla and Wardenclyffe

ST. JAMES, NY – On Thursday, September 26th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the first annual “A Night for Tesla and Wardenclyffe” Gala hosted by the Tesla Science Center at Flowerfield in St. James. The night was dedicated to celebrating the innovations of inventor Nikola Tesla, and the organization's accomplishments and progress so far in preserving his legacy.

Nikola Tesla, a world renowned scientist, invented technology over 100 years ago that is used today globally,” said Legislator Anker. “I thank Tesla Science Center members for their hard work and dedication to keeping Tesla’s legacy and our community’s history alive.”

"One of the best parts of the Gala was how it brought together people and organizations who are interested in building up Long Island through technology, education, and entrepreneurship,” said Tesla Science Center Executive Director Marc Alessi. “Everyone was excited about being part of the historic project at Wardenclyffe and continuing Tesla's legacy through innovative programs here on Long Island."

The Tesla Science Center, built in 1901, is the last remaining laboratory of inventor and engineer Nikola Tesla, whose accomplishments included inventing alternating current electricity, radio, and wireless transmission. The property is now being restored by the Tesla Science Center not-for-profit organization to honor Tesla’s legacy, teach the community about its rich history, and inspire visitors to participate in science and technology.
