Panthers Notebook: Baseball Sweeps Two-Game Series Over Amityville, Lax Loses Two

It was a shortened week for the local student-athletes with spring break underway, but the Panthers had four varsity matchups to highlight during the week.
Boys Lacrosse
The Panthers fell to 3-3 in League III with a 13-3 loss to Huntington (4-2) Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Matt Liantonio faced constant pressure from Huntington and allowed 11 goals while still making 16 saves. Steven Jackolski scored twice for the Panthers and Jack Martocello added one but that was all the offense the Panthers could muster in the loss.

Girls Lacrosse
The Panthers lost a close contest to Mt. Sinai (6-1) Wednesday by a score of 11-10.
Casey Browne put three in for Miller Place and three others added two goals each, but five different Mustangs scored two goals each in the one-goal loss for the Panthers.

Baseball
The Panthers swept a two-game series with Amityville (0-5) to improve to 3-5 in League VI play.
On Monday, Nick Acevedo allowed two runs in five innings while striking out six in a 10-2 win. Acevedo had plenty of help from his offense, specifically Dan Smith, who went 6-6 with two home runs and five RBIs.
In Game 2 Wednesday, Cody McPartland starred on the mound with a two-hit shutout, striking out 13 in a dominating 8-0 victory.
The Panthers have two non-league games this week before a series with Shoreham-Wading River starts on Monday, May 2.
