Paper Bags for Earth Day
Miller Place Students Decorate Supermarket Bags to Encourage Conservation
Miller Place School District’s Andrew Muller Primary School students celebrated Earth Day by creating paper bag art inspired by conservation and nature. Foodtown in Rocky Point, Stop and Shop in Miller Place, and King Kullen in Mount Sinai donated 250 brown paper bags each to the school for students to decorate. Students incorporated Earth Day themes and conservation tips to protect the environment into their design. The bags were then delivered back to the stores, in addition to student-made Earth Day banners, and placed on display. The activity, organized by second grade teacher Mrs. Brennan, culminated when the stores distributed the decorated bags for use to customers.
