Remembering 9/11

Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Rocky Point Fire Department in honoring those who lost their lives in the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001

On Wednesday, September 11th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Rocky Point Fire Department in honoring those who lost their lives in the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. The memorial service was attended by elected officials, local community members and local fire departments.

“Eighteen years later, the effects of what happened on September 11 are still being felt,” said Legislator Sarah Anker. “Through dedication to the lives lost and recognition of the courageous men and women, including firefighters, police officers, and first responders, we are able to recognize how tragedy inspires the best aspects of the human spirit. I encourage residents to visit this beautiful memorial that celebrates our steel resolve and provides reflection in honor of those lives lost on September 11.”

The service took place at the Rocky Point Fire Department’s 9/11 Memorial which is located at 47 Route 25A in Shoreham, and features steel from the original World Trade Center.
