Rocky Point Runner Falls Short in Olympic Trials
Rocky Point grad Melissa Salerno qualified for Olympic trials, but couldn't finish with a time to make the Olympic team.

Melissa Salerno, Rocky Point Class of 2004 and Fordham graduate, fell short in the Olympic trials in the 1,500 meter race Saturday, according to a Newsday report (subscription required).
Salerno finished Saturday with a time of 4:16.33 after qualifying in May with a time of 4:12.82 at Stanford University. She finished 12th in her semifinal and 24th overall.
She now get back to focusing full-time on her job as a research analyst at Manhattan's Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the report reads.
