Runner from Sound Beach Breaks School Record

At the Yale Track Classic in New Haven, Conn. over the weekend, senior Taylor Colucci, from Sound Beach, ran a 6.53 in the 55-meter dash, one-hundredth of a second behind the winning time of 6.52.

Colucci broke the existing school record of 6.58, set by Khoren Lawson at the same meet one year ago. In the semi-finals Colucci ran 6.54, the second fastest time in school history.

According to Dyestat, a national database of high school track results, Colucci is tied for fifth in New York State and ranked No. 50 in the country with this performance. Colucci’s has qualified to compete in the championship division of the 60-meter dash at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in March.
