Spallina Named Women's Lax DII Coach of the Year
Rocky Point's Joe Spallina led Adelphi to its third consecutive national championship with a perfect 20-0 season in 2011.
Less than two weeks after being , Rocky Point native Joe Spallina was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II National Coach of the Year.
Spallina, who was named the third head coach in Stony Brook Women's Lacrosse history on June 15, led the Panthers to three straight national championships. This is Spallina's third consecutive IWLCA Coach of the Year honor, and leaves Adelphi with a career record of 73-2.
Spallina's team went a perfect 20-0 in 2011 and were the conensus No.1 in the IWLCA coaches poll throughout the entire season. He takes over a Seawolves squad that finished 4-11 in 2011.
