State Tournament Concludes at North Shore Little League

Week-long State tournament held in Rocky Point concludes Monday.

Correction: The original post gathered a final score of Colonie defeating Stony Point 3-2, but the correct score according to iscorecentral.com was 7-2 Stony Point.

The hosted the 2012 12-year-old New York State Championship Tournament which concluded Monday as the team from Stony Point were crowned champions.

The tournament featured six little league teams from across New York State, including Cicero, Colonie, Fredonia, North Bellmore-North Merrick, Ozone-Howard, and Stony Point. The champion earns a seed in the Little League World Series regionals, where they will play other teams representing states in the northeast.

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko kicked off the tournament on July 24,
addressing the crowd at the opening ceremony and throwing the first pitch.

“I wish you all the best of luck in the tournament and I look forward to seeing one of these great teams in the Little League World Series later this summer,” Lesko said during the opening ceremonies.
