Students Take Parents Back to School

Over 100 Families Participated in Laddie A. Decker Sound Beach School's Fourth Grade Family Fun Night

Parents and guardians in the Miller Place School District joined their fourth grade students at Laddie A. Decker Sound Beach School to participate in a Fourth grade Family Fun Night. Parents and children enjoyed activities such as “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?,” board games, a scavenger hunt, parachute activities and a number of academic challenges, while also experiencing what their child has learned in classes so far this school year.

Parents and students rotated between three activities where parents experienced the students’ daily gym activities and tested their knowledge of the fourth grade curriculum. Families played board games including Uno, Connect Four, Guess Who? and Scrabble before working together to identify various board games—without names—displayed throughout the hallways as part of a scavenger hunt. Students received commemorative pins for participating at the conclusion of the event.
