TD Bank Donates $2,816 to the McGee Family
The Rocky Point Bring Change event was promoted by residents of Rocky Point.

WHO: Your local TD Bank’s Penny Arcade served as a designated hub to support the McGee Family of Rocky Point. On “Green Friday” July 31, they invited people to participate in a community coin counting event and fundraiser. TD matched up to $2,000 in coins counted and donated $2,816 to the family. With 500 Green Friday events planned through February 2016, this program promises to raise more than $1 million in support of local organizations.
WHAT: Mr. McGee is a single father who oversees care for his three school-aged children. They are in the process of foreclosure on their house and need to find a new home. Mr. McGee suffers from a very serious lung disease, Sarcoidosis, and physically struggles most days to keep up with the duties of parenting and managing all the family needs. Financial assistance will help enormously to ease the burden as Mr. McGee looks for housing for his family of four.

EVENT RECAP: The Rocky Point Bring Change event was promoted by residents of Rocky Point. Especially Bob LoNigro (owner of Port Jefferson Sports), Jennifer Zaffino (social worker at Rocky Point High School), the Rocky Point Fire department, and by Caitlin’s (James McGhee’s daughter) school friends who volunteered their time for the fundraiser.
The donation to James McGee happened last Friday.
James suffers from a lung disease which caused him to lose his job and as a result has lost his home. He is a single dad to 3 children. James said that for somebody who has bad luck, he has been receiving an abundance of support from his neighbors, family and friends financially, physically and emotionally. He was very grateful and felt blessed to have such support in a very difficult situation. The check was in the amount of $2816.00. James will be using this generous donation for his family and bills.
Bob LoNigro will also be making an individual donation in person.
