Trio Rescued After Becoming Stuck On Raft Off Sound Beach
The three men were trapped about a mile away from the beach while fishing on the 10-foot raft Thursday night.

LONG ISLAND SOUND, NY — Suffolk police rescued a trio stranded in the Long Island Sound Thursday night. A 911 caller reported that three men were fishing and became stranded in a 10-foot inflatable raft. The raft was seen drifting out one mile north of Sound Beach at 7:30 p.m. The raft was taking on water.
Marine Officers Greg Stroh and Mike Malone responded in Marine Delta boat and located the men in the raft within 15 minutes of the call. The boats occupants, a 31-year-old man, a 36-year-old man, and 38-year-old man, all of Patchogue, were taken aboard Marine Delta and transported along with their raft to a boat ramp in Mount Sinai.
The three men, all wearing life jackets, were not injured.
