2 Long Island Residents Killed in High-Speed Long Island Expressway Crash
BREAKING: Three people were killed in the crash Wednesday morning that reportedly may have involved vehicles that were drag racing.

Three people were killed, including two Long Island residents, in a chain-reaction crash that involved eight vehicles on the Long Island Expressway in Queens Wednesday morning, the NYPD said.
According to police, 25-year-old Michael Fabre, of Oakland Gardens, was driving a 2010 black Infinity sedan eastbound on the LIE at an apparent high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle at the Maurice Avenue exit at 4:19 a.m., colliding into a barrier, splitting the car in half and ejecting Fabre, 24-year-old Giovanny Sanchez, of Brentwood, and 24-year-old Christina Formato, of Franklin Square, into the roadway. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people in the Infinity, whom police did not identify, were transported to Elmhurst General Hospital, with one listed in critical condition and the other in stable condition.

The front of the split Infinity landed in the left lane of the LIE lower roadway, where it was struck by a 2012 Acura TL, police said. The driver of the Acura, a 27-year-old man, sustained only minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
Another crash then occurred when a 2015 Kenworth dump truck could not stop in time at the initial accident scene, colliding into five other vehicles that were stopped. The occupants involved in the second collision are in stable condition. Police did not say how many people were hurt, but the New York Times reported the figure as "at least 10."

“I went into a cloud of debris and hit another car,” a driver involved in the second crash told the Daily News. “It was horrible.”
Investigators believe the driver of the Infinity may have been drag racing with another one of the vehicles in the crash, the New York Post reported.
The crash comes 10 days after six people were killed in a crash on the Long Island Expressway in Suffolk County.
