Hey, everybody! I'm back in your inbox this warm morning to walk you through everything you need to know about what's happening in Mineola today. Enjoy...
First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny. High: 85, low: 70.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Mineola who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Mineola Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories today in Mineola:
- The Nassau County District Attorney's Office in Mineola charged two alleged Bloods gang members with second-degree murder for the shooting death of a 21-year-old man at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Freeport in November 2020. Christopher Anderson, 26, of Roosevelt, and Floyd McNeil, 26, of Hempstead reportedly discharged a hail of gunfire that killed Taffarie Haughton and left another teenage victim with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. (Patch)
- Adelphi University in Garden City is one of our top local colleges and 27 enrollees from Mineola have been named top students, making the Dean's List for the Spring 2022 semester. To receive the honor, you must be a full-time student registered for 12 or more credits who completed at least nine graded credits with a GPA of 3.5 or above for the semester. See the full list of students on the Dean's List from Mineola here. (Mineola Patch)
- Many celebrities have been born and raised on Long Island, and Page Six does a nice round-up of the most well-known. Kevin James, the comedic actor who starred in the sitcom "The King of Queens" as well as films like "Hitch," was born right here in Mineola and raised in Stony Brook. Rapper/actor Method Man and magician Criss Angel were both born in Hempstead. (Page Six)
