Here are the top stories today in Mineola:

  1. Three women were killed in a DWI crash in front of the Inn at New Hyde Park catering hall on Jericho Turnpike on Saturday night. The women were reportedly leaving a Sweet 16 party when, according to Nassau County police, 22-year-old Dante Lennon of Freeport was driving intoxicated and struck the rear of the Lincoln Town Car they were riding in. The women were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and two other passengers were taken to a hospital and treated. (Patch)
  2. The Nassau County Police Department, headquartered at 1490 Franklin Avenue in Mineola, swore in 60 new recruits on Friday at a ceremony at Nassau Community College. This new group of recruits will begin patrolling the streets of our town and county after completing seven months of intense training. (NCPD)
