Bank of America Donates $25K to Island Harvest for Sandy Relief

A recent $25,000 grant from Bank of America to Mineola-based non-profit Island Harvest will support ongoing operation expenses required to sustain and expand food collection, distribution, and peripheral support services for residents in need throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.

“In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Island Harvest has helped countless individuals and families on the road to recovery,” Long Island Bank of America President Bob Isaksen said in a release. “Unfortunately, their work is far from done.” 

Nearly 330,000 Long Islanders turned to Island Harvest’s network of nearly 570 soup kitchens, food pantries, and other emergency feeding programs after Sandy.

“There are still many people in the hardest hit communities that need our help and our services are needed now more than ever,” Island Harvest President and CEO Randi Shubin Dresner said in a statement. “Thanks to the generosity of Bank of America, Island Harvest can continue to our efforts to provide assistance to Long Islanders impacted by Sandy.”
