Comedy Central to Air Sports Spoof Shot in Mineola
Premiere episode of 'Onion Sports Dome' features locations shot around the village.
Back in September a crew from Comedy Central’s “The Onion” was spotted at the building . The segment being shot was for the program “The Onion Sports Dome,” a take off of ESPN’s Sports Center, and focused on the free agency St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols and the city doing anything they could to retain him.
That segment is set to air tonight at 10:30 p.m. EST, on Comedy Central and eagle-eyed viewers might be able to catch pieces of the county legislature, which stood in for St. Louis city hall. Brief interviews with actors portraying St. Louis residents were also filmed around Mineola and appear in the segment as well.
If you can’t catch the episode tonight on your big screens, repeats are scheduled for 12:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, 12:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16 and 3 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17. Comedy Central is available to FiOS customers on channel 190 (SD) and 690 (HD) and Cablevision customers on 50 (SD) and 768 (HD).
