Cops: 3 Arrested After Home Invasion in Mineola
A woman knocked on the door of a man she knew, and when he answered, the others assaulted him, and took his safe, police say.

Three people were arrested Monday following a home invasion in Mineola, police said.
Nassau Police say Arlene Morel, 22, of Bay Shore, knocked on the door of a man, 41, whom she knew, at a residence on Lincoln Avenue at about 3 p.m. When the man answered, Morel – along with Malik Taylor, 21, of Medford, and Mark Coleman, 22, of Selden – rushed in and punched and kicked the victim in the face and torso, police said. The trio then took the victim’s safe and fled in their car, police said.
After receiving radio notification, Third Precinct officers spotted the suspects’ black Audi driving north on Willis Avenue toward Jericho Turnpike, police said.

Police followed the car onto the Long Island Expressway, where it exited on Route 106/107 and collided with a livery cab on northbound Route 106/107 at the intersection with the LIE south Service Road. At this time, the Audi was disabled and the three were placed under arrest, police said.
The victim, who suffered swelling about the face and torso, refused medical attention at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Morel, Taylor and Coleman are each charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree robbery, second-degree grand larceny, and fourth-degree conspiracy. Coleman is additionally charged with violation of parole. Taylor is additionally charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless endangerment, and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
All three people arrested are scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
