🌱 Dog Kills Albertson Woman, Then Shot To Death + Library Bus Signs

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Mineola.

(Patch.com)

Hello there, Mineola! I'm here in your inbox as usual to get you caught up on everything you need to know about what's going on in town. Let's do this...

First, today's weather:

Humid with variable clouds. High: 90, low: 70.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Mineola who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Mineola Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories in Mineola today:

  1. In a tragic accident, a family's pit bull attacked and killed one of its new owners, a 70-year-old Albertson woman, in her backyard on Terrace Court Wednesday afternoon before Nassau County police shot the animal to death in self-defense. The pit bull reportedly belonged to the husband's late stepson who died in a motorcycle crash on the east end of Long Island two weeks ago. (Patch)
  2. You may have seen some new signs at NICE bus stops on Mineola Boulevard that are part of a new joint effort between NICE and local libraries. The signs feature QR codes that offer information and directions to Mineola Memorial Library. Mineola Mayor Paul Pereira and library staff recently unveiled the signs. (Village of Mineola)
  3. A foreclosed New Hyde Park home, 31 Brian St., will be sold at public auction in Mineola on Aug. 15 at 2:30 p.m., with a judgment of $565,453.80 plus interest and costs. The sale will take place at the north side steps of the Nassau Supreme Court, 100 Supreme Court Drive, and masks and social distancing are required to attend. (TheIsland360)
