Ask the Experts: Women’s Heart Health & Lifestyle Recommendations

Winthrop’s Institute for Heart Care will sponsor a heart health symposium titled “Ask the Experts: Women’s Heart Health & Lifestyle Recommendations” on Thursday, Feb. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Winthrop’s Community Outreach Center, where a panel of experts will address a variety of topics related to women’s heart health and lifestyle recommendations.

The panel will include experts from Winthrop’s Divisions of Cardiology; Cerebrovascular Disorders; Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery; and Winthrop’s Surgical Weight Loss Program.

Topics will include women and heart disease; surgical considerations for women with heart disease; women and cerebrovascular disease; and women, weight and weight loss treatment options.

Speakers will include Kevin Marzo, MD, Chief of Winthrop’s Division of Cardiology; Elzbieta Wirkowski, MD, Director of Cerebrovascular Disorders and Medical Director of Winthrop’s Neurosciences Special Care Unit; Winnie Lee, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgeon; and Alexander Barkan, MD; LAP-BAND System & Gastric Bypass Bariatric Surgeon.

In addition, a female heart attack survivor will discuss her life altering experience and her treatment at Winthrop.

Admission is free but reservations are required.
