For the Love of Opera

Chamber of Commerce, will take place in the auditorium of Carle Place High School, 168 Cherry Lane, on Friday, February 18. In tune with Valentine's Day, professional opera singers will perform love scenes and arias from some of the most popular Italian composers as Bizet, Puccini and Verdi, among others.

Founded in 1958, the Long Island Opera is the oldest opera company in existence on Long Island. 

"For the Love of Opera" will feature the talents of tenor Paolo Buffagni; baritone Ron Loyd, mezzo Sandra Schwarzhaupt and sopranos Maryann Mootos and Joy Berta, along with accompanist Fabio Bezuti.

The Chamber-sponsored event will take place Friday, February 18 at 8 p.m. at Carle Place High School, 168 Cherry Lane. Open seating beings at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person; $10 for seniors and students (with identification) and can be purchased at the door or in advance.

A meet and greet with the performers, as well as a bake sale benefiting the Carle Place High School Parent-Teacher Association, will follow the show; proceeds from the performance will benefit the American Cancer Society, Carle Place High School Music Department, the Westbury Memorial Public Library and the Westbury-Carle Place Chamber of Commerce.
