Hampton Street Students Celebrate 2013 Cinco De Mayo

Many students at Hampton Street School in Mineola learned about Cinco de Mayo, which they celebrated in class on May 3.
In the state of Puebla, Mexico, the holiday commemorates the victory of the Mexican army over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862
Mineola first-graders held a classroom fiesta, which included homemade guacamole and salsa with chips.
Teacher Jennifer Fiorentino added to the festivities by performing the traditional Mexican Hat Dance for students.
