Here are the top stories today in Mineola:
- Gov. Kathy Hochul easily won the Democratic primary election for state governor candidate Tuesday night, defeating 3rd District Congressman Tom Suozzi of Glen Cove and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. Hochul will next face 1st District Congressman Lee Zeldin of Shirley, who won the Republican primary election Tuesday night, in the race to be New York governor. (Patch)
- A local couple were arrested after allegedly robbing the hotel they were staying in, the Red Roof Inn at 699 Dibblee Drive in Westbury. According to Nassau County police, Edwin Rivera, 37, of Levittown, and Jennifer Gill, 28, of Islip Terrace were caught on video entering the reception desk area and an employee section, where they damaged a hotel computer. - The July 4 holiday weekend may start off stormy in Mineola but will clear for Saturday and Sunday. News 12 Long Island predicts showers and a passing storm on Saturday, and dampness continuing into Sunday morning. But by Sunday afternoon it will be sunny and dry with a high temperature in the low 80s. Monday should be your best day for a barbecue or other outdoor activities, with lots of sun and a high of 83 degrees. (News 12)
