🌱 Home Burglaries + Suing For Potholes + HS Donates To Veterans
The Mineola Daily is the quickest way to get caught up on what's going on today in Mineola.

Good morning, Mineola! Here's everything you need to know to get this Wednesday started off right.
First, today's weather:
Sun mixing with clouds. High: 56, low: 54.
Here are the top stories in Mineola today:
- Two homes were burglarized in the Village of Garden City on Nov. 11, prompting the Garden City Police Department to warn local residents and advise on how to best protect your home. The pattern of burglaries follows that of a string of recent residential robberies on the North Shore. (Garden City Patch)
- Long Island is known, unfortunately, for numerous potholes on its roads, and politicians now want drivers who damage their vehicles on them to be able to recover damages all year long. Senator Alexis Weik, who represents New York Senate District 3 in Suffolk, is calling for New York State to be liable year-round for damages cars sustain on state highways. Motorists can currently sue the state to be reimbursed for repairs from May 16 to Nov. 14; Weik's bill would extend that to the other half of the year. (CBS New York)
- Mineola High School students sold dozens of American flags in honor of U.S. service members and donated the proceeds to a Long Island veteran organization. The school made an outdoor display of these flags on Armstrong Road called the Veteran Flag Field of Honor. The money raised was donated to Cooking for Long Island Veterans, a Stony Brook-based organization that delivers home-cooked meals to local veterans. (Mineola Patch)
