- The weather forecast for Memorial Day weekend on Long Island starts off with some rain on Saturday but clears for Sunday and Monday. That means a picture-perfect day is in store for Mineola's Memorial Day Parade on Monday: mostly sunny, with a high temperature of 81. (Patch)
- If you are planning on leaving town for a holiday weekend getaway, you are not alone. AAA predicts that 35 million Americans will be taking a road trip, reaching 93 percent of pre-pandemic levels, and advises against hitting the highways at peak times. If you are leaving Friday, the worst time to travel is between noon and 7 p.m. If you are traveling on Saturday or Sunday, try to do so before 10 a.m. (Patch)
- If you are staying in town and looking for more festivities, the Town of North Hempstead is hosting its annual Memorial Day Commemoration and Fireworks Extravaganza at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington on Saturday. - Chaminade High School - Mineola: More than 100 students and graduates from both Chaminade and Kellenberg Memorial attended "Operation Fiat" on Monday to learn about becoming a Marianist Brother. The evening included a witness talk by Bro. Kenneth Hoagland, evening prayer and dinner. (Facebook)
- Nassau County Police Department: The NCPD is offering a cash reward for information about a Rockville Centre robbery that leads to an arrest. (Facebook)
- Family & Children's Association: The ROOTS Club of Roosevelt Prevention Coalition recently met for planting day to learn about planting and proper nutrition. Members of RPC met with eight students at the Roosevelt Community Garden who were given their own gardening tools and had the experience of putting seeds into the ground. (Facebook)
- Long Island Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependence: LICADD's 35th Annual Adele C. Smithers Angel Ball will be held Monday, June 27 in Oheka Castle's Garden.
