PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Memorial Day is May 30, 2022 — and communities across Long Island are gearing up to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to serve their country.
In the Town of North Hempstead, officials are planning a Memorial Day Commemoration and Fireworks Extravaganza. It will be held at North Hempstead Beach Park on Saturday, May 28, with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m.
"Memorial Day serves as an opportunity to honor the members of our Armed Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms," Town Supervisor Jennifer DeSena said. "I urge all who attend to take the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by these brave men and women for our country."
