Mineola 2011 Graduate Wins $1,000 Scholarship

Class of Renjith Maracheril has been chosen as one of 10 high school graduates across Long Island to receive a $1,000 scholarship from .

Each year the bank awards 10 scholarships each to graduating high school seniors who will be attending an accredited college or university the following fall and who exemplify a well-rounded high school career.

“We have seen these graduating high school seniors go on to become professionals and productive members of their communities and are proud to be able to support them in any way we can,” Bethpage Federal Credit Union Senior Vice President Linda Armyn said in a statement Wednesday.

Applicants chosen needed to prepare a cover letter describing what they hoped to achieve while in college, submit an essay addressing a turning point or most important moment in their lives to date, and illustrate their community involvement and/or work or internship experience.  Applicants also needed to have a minimum overall grade point average of 85 percent (3.0 GPA). 

Maracheril will be attending St. Bonaventure University in the fall.
